I’m guessing that Bobo no longer even tries. This was just about as stupid as he gets in his patented technique to be seen as the squishy middle:
- Make a declarative sentence and state it as a fact!
- Introduce a new fact that contradicts the previous fact!
- Declare your pragmatic centrism by saying both facts cannot be true, so it must be something else, but you don’t know what.
- Cash your paycheck.
He’s as “centrist” as Sarah Palin. Rightists keep finding new ways to be deceptive and irritating.
Ah ha! Another Ouroboros School of Social Commentary graduate.
State a premise. Launch into a circular argument that turns until it eats away the premise tail, then keep going until everyone has fallen asleep. Leave behind a perfect zero, representing the cognitive content.
Tengrain, what poor little creature have you defiled in your quest to make David Fucking Brooks look like the semi-literate fucknozzle that he is? That little fellow has thumbs which tells me that he has more class and intellect than Bobo.

Thanks for the link – what a ghastly thing to read on a rainy afternoon. Generally I like Gail, but either she is taking a page out of Bobo’s playbook or she was edited, when she completely ignored Judith Miller’s active cheerleading for Chimpy McStagger’s Excellent Adventure. It always shocks me how no one at the Times has the slightest bit of institutional memory that they were very active enablers of the junta that couldn’t shoot straight, and they have absolutely as much responsibility for the clusterfuck in Iraq as anyone when they become quite literally stenographers for Dick Cheney’s torture fetish porn.
