A Creative Solution to our Hunger Problems?

The only downside I see is that those trading the food in will be wanting to munch very shortly.

Free Pot For Food: 11,000 Pounds Of Food Donated

SOQUEL, Calif. — A California medical marijuana dispensary has raked in food donations with a unique offer: free pot.

The Granny Purps dispensary in Soquel (soh-KEL’), about 60 miles southeast of San Francisco, offered a complimentary marijuana cigarette for every four cans of food a patient brought in this holiday season. Each patient was limited to a maximum of three cigarettes a day.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that the dispensary took in 11,000 pounds of food and handed out 2,000 marijuana cigarettes between November and Christmas Eve, when the promotion ended.

The food was donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Ahhh, California ……

Wow, that is the feel good story of the season.

Yep, even if you hate us you got to love this story.

    Tex was here!

This might create something of a conundrum. After 2,000 marijuana cigarettes, somebody is going to get the munchies.

Second Harvest (now called Feeding America http://feedingamerica.org/) is a great site to donate money to. They get deep discounts on all kinds of food, so your dollars go a long way towards putting food in people’s stomachs. Occasionally, they get donors that will match your donation, also.
The wife and I used to buy food at the local Safeway and take it to Women’s shelters, but donating to 2nd Harvest gives a lot more to people who need it.
(Plus, they aren’t filling my mailbox with pleas for more money (I hate that so much that I give to ACLU comes back in the form of junk mail.)
