The Morning Quote

“Why should someone who has worked and accumulated some equity and is investing that in American businesses no longer be able to do that when they’re elected to public office?”

–Sen. Jon Kyl (Ariz.), the second-ranking Senate Republican leader arguing that he should be allowed insider trading.

Someone elected to work in the public intetest who gains industry information (through his elected position) that’s not available to public should definitely be able profit from the info, I say unto you.

After all, it’s what is done in corrupt third world countries. Why should they have all the fun?

    BTW, Kyl is an idiot.

  2. BruceJ:

Long before Doug Feith, Kyl owned the “Dumbest Guy in the Universe” title. To say he’s dumber than a bag of hammers is a fighting insult to hammers. He’s a 12-pack short of a six pack, 53 cards short of a deck (one joker is all he’s got). Eating paste IMPROVED his IQ. There are amoebas that are smarter than Jon.

This is the man whose lasting political legacy will be the phrase “That was not intended to be a factual statement.”

H8ters! Feudalism was OK, you didn’t have to worry about the very poor or the very rich. You just had to be a slave and die aged 40. People have got all caught up in legality an shit, these days.

  7. Dimitrios:

Think how much better off the country would be if the voters were as dedicated to serving their own interests as their representatives are.

  10. Bruce388:

Kyl just proved he’s dumber than he looks. Probably not the first time.

  11. grs:

Wait, you mean I’m not supposed to get rich from holding a public office?

God, the arrogance–and the blindness. I’ve heard of enlightened self-interest, but this is really too much.

Isn’t there a guillotine somewhere waiting for this guy?
