It was only a matter of time

Evolution, Climate Change, Supply-side economics, Aspirin as birth control – it was only a matter of time before someone in the Republican party would publicly use Holocaust denial as a campaign strategy.

arthur jones

Meet Arthur Jones – who wants to challenge Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill) for his Congressional seat because of Lipinski’s Israel policies. So far, he’s collected 1,000 signatures to get on the ballot. Jones is only slightly to the right of most Republicans, or maybe just more vocal about it.

A Republican running for Congress in Illinois says that the Holocaust is the “biggest, blackest lie in history.”

Jones, an insurance salesman, is a former member of the Nationalist Socialist White People’s Party and once wrote a flyer calling the Holocaust an International Extortion Racket. “This idea that 6 million Jews were killed in the Holocaust is the biggest, blackest lie in history,” he told KMOX, a CBS affiliate in St. Louis. “There is no proof that the Holocaust took place in Europe against the Jews.”

Anyone who knows me the Holocaust is not a subject I talk about lightly nor one I use in any form of humor.  But anyone who believes in this form of revisionism and vile thought deserves as much written and verbal repudiation as possible.   Even if the Republican party has rejected Jones as a viable candidate – the entire country needs to know that someone this vile desires to hold public office.  Sure the Democratic party has its share of awful people, but I find it interesting the Mr. Jones finds the GOP would be a more welcoming home.

    Well….Lipinski does suck.
I mean he really blows as a rep. and a democrat.

But if this is the best the grand old party of ronny reagun can muster….sigh.

another 2 years of blowing I guess.

I swear, the democrats and republicans appear to be throwing the races to the other side every other cycle. I mean, Obama could have come in and pushed the agenda he campaigned on and it would have killed the republican party. But no, he leaves Wall Street alone, sells out true health care reform to big pharm, etc. So the republicans thank him by running MItt, Santorum, Gingrich et al. Except…it’s getting so obvious that too many people are coming to the conclusion that the two party system–or at least these two parties–has to go. Something is coming. Might start in Europe first, but it’s coming.

We agree, there are some topics not to be taken lightly. His quote reminds me of the right wing mantra : “you say it enough times they’ll start to believe it is true”. Ugh.

  4. Dimitrios:

Kind of difficult to deny a crime about which the perpetrators so rigorously kept records, did so much documentary filming, and got caught with so much equipment still attempting to process its victims.

  5. TheCunningRunt:

The bar for Republican “thought” has been set so low that even slugs like Jones have to exhale to slither under it. I can’t help thinking that these kinds of statements will bite them in the ass come the General Election.

  6. Mokudox:

I think that compassionate conservatives are the biggest, blackest lie in history. I will stand by that.

    Mokudox –

Welcome to MPS, it is good to have you with us.

I’ll stand by you on that one.
