    Molly Ivins says not to gloat, particularly around Republicans.

    But Molly was a MUCH better person than I.

    Some over there are questioning how it’s possible that Mitt racked up 1 million fewer votes than McCain in ’08. They take it as a given that Obama should get 7 million fewer simply because they don’t like him. Since they delete posts over there, I’ll post my comment here:

    Maybe the 1 million fewer McCain voters that didn’t show up for Romney is due to the fact that so many were elderly in 2008 and dead by 2012. I can’t be bothered to look this up in actuary tables, but it seems to make sense. That’s what happens when you rely on a dying demographic to sustain your awful political party.

    RWW, I also used a similar argument to explain why Tommy Thompson’s support in Wisconsin was so tepid. A lot of angry old white guys died since he was Governor.
