Scene from a gun show in Missouri

(Credit: REUTERS/Dave Kaup) I wonder who they are marketing to?

It seems that people are stocking up on assault rifles. Reports from some large gun shows (25 acre one in Texas alone) they sold out of the model rifle used in Sandy Hook at 300% of the price they sold for just a few weeks ago.

Prices for assault weapons have surged since the Connecticut shooting. At the Kansas City show, Jerome Ratliff bought an AR-15 on Saturday for target practice, paying $925. The same model would have cost only about $400 a year ago, he said. Most models were selling for $1,500 or more.

America seems to have an excess of ignorant and fearful folk residing within its borders. I realize that every country has its share of mentally unstable individuals but judging from the number of U.S. citizens who feel the need to have their own personal arsenal in order to feel safe, I am inclined to believe that you may hold the record.

Surveys have shown viewers of local TV news are more fearful than non-viewers. Throw in Fox Noise and you have your gun show populations.

We usually elect our mentally unstable to high office; it keeps them off the streets.
