Midday Palate Cleanser
OK, so it’s not a dog, but it is funny. I think that this is going to be a show on the electronic teevee machine?

You *have* to read the book! Okay, okay I confess that I’m a librarian and book pusher; nevertheless, Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion is an alloyed treat. Whoever made this video has captured much of its sly humor and there is so much more to the book as well. Thanks for the palate cleanser and the chance to shamelessly librarian (totally proper usage, cromulent even.)
Is this supposed to represent something in any way different from the vast majority of brain-dead sheep that wander America now? Because I can’t tell the difference.

I spend an inordinate amount of time at the library, so my fondness for you grows by leaps and bounds. I had no idea that this was based on a book, and so on my next foray…

Full blown zombie-movie. Saw the preview on the big screen, I’d buy a ticket, looks like zombie fun.

TG,
Here in NE Illinois, the libraries are turning into internet cafes. Fewer books, more computers. Less quiet reading area, more Wi-Fi and laptops. I hope it’s better for you.
I go to the movies to escape reality not to relate to it.
Documentaries of post holiday blues never sell, that’s why Holly-weird releases dogs in January.
It would have gone straight to video but by not having Matthew McConaughy in it the death-nil will cometh a week later than usual.
Although, it may work on TV, where hoards of overweight Gen-Xer’s devour this crap like teabaggers who absorb
everything they hear on Faux.
And who knows. The overseas market may warm to it.
It’s no Downton Abbey but the Brits seem to be up to speed on this sort of thing.
O my. So much sneering. Did someone get only coal? (I don’t mean you, Ten. You have charmed me once again.) The book is a love story, a meditation on what it means to be alive, dead, and not dead. It’s about change and survival and what makes living worthwhile. As for libraries, they always change, they always have. They have existed since before 2000 BCE, and have adapted to be what we need them to be. Don’t fret, keep reading, it will be fine.

The Main Branch of our public library is a joint-venture with San Jose State University; it’s a showcase building with glass walls overlooking downtown. Though they don’t like to advertise it, library patrons can check out books from the University, too, and we can have other research libraries loan books to us, too, like from Cal and Stanford. It’s really a treasure.
