Voter Intimidation Via Vandalism
These photos are of vandalism done to the car of a friend of mine (also a friend of this blog) last night in Hays County, Texas. The only photo-shopping I have done was to obscure her license plate number.

On the eve of early voting, an Obama supporter’s car was vandalized in rurual western Hays County, Texas.The Obama bumper sticker was torn off, a 20-lb rock was put through the back window, two Obama yard signs were shoved through the hole in the rear window and “Obama” was badly spray-painted in orange along the drivers side door.
Hays County Sheriffs Deputies spent several hours dusting the scene of the crime for fingerprints and gathering other evidence. Onlookers identified this incident as a hate crime and possible voter intimidation.
I feel horrible for her and worse for the country.

This is horrible.
I came via the link at Pam’s. I live in this same area and this stuns me. There are quite a few Obama supporters in the area- signs and stickers are obvious. This is the result of the whipping up of hatred by McCain Palin. It’s likely to happen all over.
I hate this stuff and I hate that the Rs just don’t give a damn about decency.
I don’t think this kind if thuggery should be linked directly to all Republicans. In my opinion, this is the result of McCain and Palin feeding hate speeches and fear-mongering to their unsophisticated base.
For a long time now, Democrats have been saying that we want our country back. I know some fundamentalist Christians who, for years, have been complaining that they want their religion back. And now we have reached the point where old-fashioned Republicans need to start demanding that they get their party back.
If they don’t, now, then they are as guilty as the wackos who do these deed, and the wackos who incited this kind of behavior.

This is BS but is also why I don’t put any stickers on my car. I can defend my point of view to anyone, my car doesn’t have that chance by itself in a parking lot. Fucked up? Yep, you betcha but life often is.

The deductible for vandalism is often times lower than the deductible for collision.
An FYI that might help: It costs relatively little to put the deductible for vandalism (it falls under comprehensive coverage) at $0.00. I had someone smash out my passenger window in the dead of winter in f*cking Cleveland. My deductible was $100 and the cost of the window was just over $100. My agent told me about the cost….the cost increase wasn’t quite $3.00 extra monthly.
If they come after my car they’re going to be going down the barrel of a sawed-off, 10 gauge shotgun.
As a resident of Hays County I’m a little surprised and very disgusted by this. There are a lot of Obama supporters here, particularly on the north and east sides of the county close to Austin, and our cars proudly display Obama stickers. I know there are parts of the county which are full of ignorant Republicans but I regularly drive all around the county and nobody’s ever said anything negative about my stickers. Up to now I felt like this was a “live and let live” kind of place. That said, I do NOT put Obama stickers on my motorcycle, because the consequences of any attack while riding are more serious.
A side note: Your web site is almost unreadable to me, with the background image and top banner interfering with the text. I’m using FireFox 3 if that matters.
I do hope this was reported to the FBI because if this is voter intimidation, I beleive that is a federal offense. When my family moved to TX in 1949 there was NO Republican Party in the state of TX. My folks couldn’t even vote in a primary without having to register as Democrats. Who is going to take back WHAT party? Neither party bears any resemblance to the political parties to even 20 years ago. What we have now is a great body of hooligans who try to manipulate and threaten people just the way that the Clan did in the 50’s. Back to the Future had nothing on us!
