Ain’t it fun

As Crooks & Liars explains it, Rush Limbaugh attacks Michael Steele and then Steele apologizes to RushBo.
Here’s Steele’s apology, via Think Progress:
Steele has quickly backed down. Politico reports that Steele “reached out” to Limbaugh today to say that he didn’t mean what he said.
“My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh,” Steele said in a telephone interview. “I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. … There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership.” […]
“I went back at that tape and I realized words that I said weren’t what I was thinking,” Steele said. “It was one of those things where I thinking I was saying one thing, and it came out differently. What I was trying to say was a lot of people … want to make Rush the scapegoat, the bogeyman, and he’s not.”
Steele made clear that he will welcome Limbaugh into the party,” calling him a “very valuable conservative voice for our party.” “He does what he does best, which is provoke,” Steel said. “My job is to try to bring us all together.”

All other things being equal, in a gang of bullies, the one with the loudest voice usually wins.
When Steele said what he did, I quit typing on my blog and sat there, slackjawed, staring at the TV. And I thought, “The man is suicidal!”
If I’d had someone else here, I would’ve immediately set up a pool on how long it would take Steele to apologize.

Yes, it’s a double post, but it’s worth it.
