Is the military in an uproar over being compared to assassins? Who in Congress has spoken out against this? Who in the administration? Who at CBS? NYT editorial board? Who among the retired generals who parade on TV?

This is a quote from a magazine interview in April with CBS Sports golf analyst David Feherty;
[I]f you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.
This guy is out of control. What and unbelievably obnoxious and irresponsible thing to say in print. Inciting to violence, slandering men and women in the military. He’s the unbalanced one, not our troops. VetVoice has the story and response here.

From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this, though: despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.
Say what you will about Jesse Jackson or Michael Moore or Al Sharpton or whatever liberal boogeyman the Republicans like to trot out, no one on the left says things like this. No one. We have no Limbaughs. We have no Glenn Becks. And we have no filth like this Feherty from CBS. The Republican party is infested with people like this. People who find it funny to talk about the death of our leaders. No one on the left talked about killing George Bush, as much as we loathed him.
The Republicans have a very serious problem. They’ve fed such hatred amongst their followers that now it’s all they have left.
Someone taking out Pelosi sure would make the Carebear’s easy job even easier. Hoyer’s a Right Wing White Man. Right up the Carebear’s alley.
I watch a lot of golf and now I just get the Spanish call which is pretty straightforward. I never watched golf in the US expecting left wing politics. There are only 4 self-identified left-wing golfers that I know of and 4 seems like a monster big number: JOHN DALY, DAVID DUVAL, PAUL GOYDOS, GEOFF OGILVY.

It was on Olbernmann last night that I heard this story. Olbermann was emphatic that this asshat was soon to be an ex-sportscaster as of the publication of said asshat’s insane statement. I hope CBS is the network Olbermann thinks it is. Then the next piece of this story is, does this prick get charged with a hate speech crime. He is attempting to incite someone into committing political assassinations. Do we hold public figures responsible for this kind of crime? We haven’t charged O’Riely, or Hannity, or any other of the “news” jockeys on Faux News for their hate speech. But this was particularly egregious.

That whooshing sound you hear is the credibility leaking out of golf’s image as a ‘gentleman’s game‘.
I have no love lost for Nancy Pelosi, as many of you know, and given some of the torture revelations coming out lately about what she knew and how she did nothing against it (not even register a complaint, unlike Jane Harmon), well, I can say I still don’t like her.
BUT: I would never, ever, advocate violence against her. This is repellent.
