Rhymes with Citi…

The NY Post tells us that…

Penny-pinching Citibank will put the squeeze on small-fry customers, charging them up to $90 a year by demanding a fee every time their average monthly checking account balance sinks below $1,500.

I get the feeling that they are actually trying to get rid of their “small-fry customers.” Interesting that is happening at one of the banks literally on life support from the US Taxpayers, too.

Shout out MPS!

We fired our citibank card. After 15 yrs as preferred customers, they’d jacked our rates to 21%, likely because we pay it off and they don’t make much money from us. We just got the confirmation today. Nice letter with list of reasons why it was to our advantage to stay; 24hr assistance available, no liability for unauthorized card usage, purchase protection, yada yada yat. No offer to go back to our old rate. We threatened that we’d quit if they went thru with the rate increase. Fookers think we’re stupid.

    asshats

Bank of America – started to serve the gold miners in California, if I recall correctly – announced years ago that it wanted to shed it’s small depositors and go strictly with business. That did not last long – badly misfired on them. Hope Citi sees the same response.

I’m still trying to find a credit union or regional bank in NYC that I can use. One that won’t be bought out in the next couple of years. I have the marginally less hateful Chase, but I will give it up in a New York minute for a real option.

I have been a member of a credit union for 40+ years and love it!
