But it is not a litmus test…
…because it mentions Ronald Reagan in the description.
Yes, once again, the Wingnuttia has decided to take the concept of purity balls to their heart: candidates must cleave tightly to the new GOP principles, or face the wraith of the spirit of Reagan (fair warning! It’s a PDF):
The “Resolution on Reagan’s Unity Principle for Support of Candidates” outlines 10 conservative principles the group of signees wants potential candidates to abide by. The principles include support for:
(1) Smaller government, smaller national debt, lower deficits and lower taxes by opposing bills like Obama’s “stimulus” bill
(2) Market-based health care reform and oppose Obama-style government run healthcare;
(3) Market-based energy reforms by opposing cap and trade legislation;
(4) Workers’ right to secret ballot by opposing card check
(5) Legal immigration and assimilation into American society by opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants;
(6) Victory in Iraq and Afghanistan by supporting military-recommended troop surges;
(7) Containment of Iran and North Korea, particularly effective action to eliminate their nuclear weapons threat
(8) Retention of the Defense of Marriage Act;
(9) Protecting the lives of vulnerable persons by opposing health care rationing and denial of health care and government funding of abortion; and
(10) The right to keep and bear arms by opposing government restrictions on gun ownership
The best think about this new mission statement is that it rarely says what they want, it only says what they don’t want. So they still got that directionless thing going for them. Good luck, Mr. Steele, bringing hip-hop and youth to the party now, I’m sure that they will have a plank for that, too. Say, is Pat Boone available?
If you open up the PDF, you’ll see that Wingnuttia showed remarkable restraint in mentioning Ronnie’s name only 6 times on a page.

I guess my comment was too long and it went POOF.
What is worse, the hypocrisy, the mass amnesia, or the lack of any solutions? Where is the job creation? Who’s paying taxes right now that needs a tax break? Where are the incentives to hire people, grow businesses and produce something?
Nobody is taking their stupid guns away.
Would they rather subsidize underprivileged children’s health care, special needs transportation and education, SCHIP, Head Start and welfare? Choose Life!! Have babies, starve, die. That’s the motto.

As far as I know there is no size limit to comments, so something else must have happened.

Olbermann covered this tonight: St. Raygun could not be a member of the current repiglican party!
Yeah, KO covered that irony quite well didn’t he raceynora?
Could Reagan be a Repug today? Could Goldwater? Charlie Crist has a serious challenger in Florida. Newt’s on thin ice (scary at his weight class). Al they have left is X-ray eyes Doug Hoffman and he lost.
