Like bookends for the death of the media
Two items, when read back-to-back tell us a lot about the death of the media:
- Nielsen folds Editor & Publisher and Kirkus Reviews — a very clinical announcement of the closing of two “brands” and the selling of others.
- Twilight of the American newspaper – a longish elegiac essay in Harper’s by the wonderful Richard Rodriquez; it really reads almost as poetry.

Why the fuck would I want to read an American newspaper that reads like Twilight? Stupid emo vamps.
