Mark Sanford to Walk the Appalachian Trail Alone
Jenny Sanford, the long-suffering wife of bad-haired GOP sex-lizard and notorious Appalachian trail hiking, amateur castanet playing Lothario, South Carolina Governor Mark “Kiss Me South of the Border” Sanford has filed divorce papers.
“As so many of us know, the dissolution of any marriage is a sad and painful process,” Jenny Sanford wrote.
It is also a very personal and private one. Because Mark and I are public figures, we have naturally had less privacy with which to deal with our difficulties than do other couples.“Indeed, I know it will soon become known so I choose to release this brief notice that I am now filing for divorce,” Sanford added. “This came after many unsuccessful efforts at reconciliation, yet I am still dedicated to keeping the process that lies ahead peaceful for our family.
“I remain thankful to so many across this state and nation for their words of encouragement and prayers during this difficult time,” she continued. “Please know the boys and I are doing well and are blessed with the incredible support of friends and family and bolstered by our faith and the unfailing love of our God above.”
In the meanwhile the AP tells us …
Sanford said Thursday he still wants to reconcile.
“Yeah. I mean, you may have missed it, but I mean I was down there last night and dropped by and saw the kids,” Sanford said.
Sanford wouldn’t talk about whether he has cut off contact with Chapur. “I’m not going back to June. We’ve had all those conversations.”
In his political life, Sanford has just over a year remaining in his second term.
So there we have it: the rich wife, spurned, has left him, the Firecracker Lady doesn’t want him, and he has one year left on his term as Governor. Such are the wages of SIN!
I walk alone, with nobody else!
Obviously, it was god’s will. His deep, abiding faith shall be Sanford’s security blanket. That and the cosulting firm that’ll he will start so that he can pull in those sweet, sweet taxpayer dollars.
