Today marks a sad day for us, a turning point, really, where the US started down a slippery slope. You see, it was on this date in 2001 that Chimpy received the briefing entitled “Bin Laden Determined to Attack US” (or words to that effect). The rest is history.
This image was taken on that day, and might actually be Harriet Miers giving Chimpy the memo (that was part of her job).
Please reflect for a moment on this.
Simple little words, that if understood and acted upon could have saved our souls and thousands (millions?) of others.
While there are those who say our national tragedy began with the stolen 2000 election (and I will not argue that point), I would say our fate was sealed on this day, seven long years ago.

It looks like she’s about to service him. Maybe that’s how she got the Supreme Court appointment. So glad she withdrew herself. What blatant cronyism!

On 9/11/01, a good friend of mine sat on American Flight 11, in First Class, right behind the pilot’s door. She was employed by Qantas Airways, and was coming from Boston to Los Angeles for a sales meeting. She’d been upgraded to First Class at the last minute. I have no idea what she thought as she was being murdered by thugs – but I believe, in my heart, that Bush ignored this report 7 years ago because he was in collusion with Bin Laden. This was his ticket to invade Iraq.
So yes, I DO take it personally.

Tengrain, it makes me furious. Furious that nobody will impeach the criminals in the White House, furious about the displaced values and petty greed that marks this administration. Time’s a wastin, folks, and we need to do something!
What chance did we ever stand? That dumb-ass would have read the header and then asked himself what a full trashcan attack was, and who the “us” were that they were talking about.
No crayon stick drawings were ever gonna spell out the message he really needed.

Me too, me too. I actually fantasize about Chimpy and his gang being frogmarched into the Hague. Because it sure as hell will not happen here. I was so excited when Pelosi took the gavel, I thought for sure a woman would end this charade and bring justice about. Now I just add her to the list of people I want fired.
MPS is my primal scream. Cheaper than therapy, anyway.

Got through the first four chapters of The Dark Side today and this was laid out very clearly. Strongly recommend it for a read. It’s well written, sourced and has some information I wasn’t previously aware of. Maybe I should send Nancy a copy…
Seems to me some intelligence agent gave Chimpy the briefing and his response was, “OK, you’ve covered your ass.” As if there was nothing that needed to be done. Chimpy went fishing that afternoon. But they were itching for the opportunity to go into Iraq back in the 90s (Project for a New American Century). 9/11 was their flimsy excuse.
Tengrain: I raise you. Pelosi is surely on the short list of those who must be fired. Personally, I think W walks away a free man with not a care in the world unless, that is, there is a young man in Iraq who is committed to being the muslim version of Simon Wiesenthal. Otherwise, there will be no (hate this word) closure. As I’ve noted elsewhere, my office is moving to a location about one block away from the giant hole in the ground that is the former site of the World Trade Towers. Nice. I get to have a reminder of the incompetency (or worse) of this administration every fucking day.

Tengrain… Thanks for this reminder. It was this time last year that I became acquainted with your site and posted and joined a Bin Laden blogswarm over this terrible anniversary. Like Divajood, I also lost a few friends that day as I’m sure many New Yorkers did. This day needs to serve as a reminder that it was all preventable. The bastard in the White House knew it was coming and let it happen anyway. If that’s not an impeachable offense, what is? Again…thanks.
