Go read Dave Waldman: O’Reilly & the grand FOX Nutwork tradition.

He has screen shots of some of their convenient mistakes, and here’s today’s via Media Matters:

Ever wonder what it would be like to be a member of the traveling press corps on an Obama trip overseas? Christina Bellantoni shows us.

Wherein Betsy Meets All the Progressives in Texas

Posted by Texas Betsy Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Tonight was the Molly Dinner for the Texas Observer. I got all decked out, including pink finger and toenails to match my pink canes, and my pink blouse, and went down to the Four Seasons in Austin. Had wonderful conversations, heard horrible tales of unemployed journalists, barely tolerated Ellen Goodman’s screed against new media, and had a ball! Food was so-so, but when we had tornado watches and warnings at the end, I wound up in the lobby talking with the state senators on the education committees, and the highlight of the evening was chatting with Lou Dubose and his wife. Wow!

Mine was the only laptop in sight, and I think am the one attendee there who live-blogged the event. I sat next to much of the Observer staff, and none of them were taking notes of any kind. Lots of journalists, but I didn’t even see note-pads. Very odd, considering how Netroots Nation last year and SxSW this year were wall-to-wall laptops.

OK Tengrain, what’s your excuse for not posting this evening???

Barack Obama:

Our Romantic President

Props to President Obama for taking Michelle out on a romantic date to New York last night.

It was exciting not just for the Obamas, but for the New Yorkers who got to view them, the restaurant chef and staff who served them, the diners in the restaurant who applauded as they left, the actors in the Broadway show they attended — and the one that struck me the most, the surprised guy sitting next to Obama at the play. [More...]

“I couldn’t think for the first 10 minutes of the show because the president was sitting right to me,” said seatmate Lloyd Lederkramer.

The Obamas also got a standing ovation from the audience at the show.

I think it’s great we have such a popular president and first lady — it’s been a very long time. (And to the grinchy Republicans out there who are griping about cost, the Obamas paid for their show tickets and dinner. Who paid all those times Bush flew to his ranch in Crawford? Do you think Bush would have told America he was foregoing his vacation to Crawford because GM was filing for bankruptcy? )

And yet …..

A DEATH Dive??

Posted by Texas Betsy Friday, May 29th, 2009

The Texas budget is on its way to the governor’s desk. Windstorm insurance reform survived another day. Expanded health care coverage for low-income children is still in a death dive.

A Death Dive?  A DEATH dive?  Given how many Texas children die each year from untreated illnesses, is this the best phrase that the Houston Chronicle could come up with??  Oy!

p.s.  Thanks scissorheads for all the “get well soon” wishes.  Doing much better now after spending a few hours on the porch.

News update from Levi Johnston!

Posted by Tengrain Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

CNN

The seed donor of the youngest Palin (Tripp), Levi Johnston, appeared on the Living Museum of 80s Power Suspenders and cleared up so many mysteries around, well, stuff.

King: When it began to be sexual and romantic [with Bristol], did the governor know?

Johnston: You know, I’m not sure. That’s a question I can’t really answer. But, you know, I think…

King: What do you think?

Johnston: You know, she says she [didn't] know. But I don’t know. I think she’d probably know, you know?

Levi is said to be shopping around a tell-all book. With insight like this, it is sure to be a best seller!

Is she in? Or is she isn’t?

Depends on who you read. Or listen to. You’ll notice we at MPS didn’t report it as fact, and we have almost no journalistic integrity.

Who’s on First?

Let me try to keep up with this. First the New York Post and the New York Times said Caroline Kennedy had bowed out of the New York race. Then NBC said: no, seems like it was a misunderstanding between Kennedy and Paterson (helluva a misunderstanding). Then they backed off and said: nope, she’s really out. Now the AP is saying she’s still in.

It is possible that all of this drama is part of a single, highly coordinated plan and constitutes the first withdrawal through self-immolation performance art.

Late Update: Here’s a more detailed run-down from Eric Kleefeld, who has the thankless task of reporting this nonsense as straight news.

Huff Po has posted in both directions, and the NYT still says she’s out.

Interesting, from Fox News

Posted by Texas Betsy Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Yes, Fox News. Faux News. Fox Noise. No, I don’t watch and I don’t generally go onto their website, but I was there today helping a student find something on Palin. Saw two interesting stories in the politics section.

Bush Privately Urges GOP Workers to Turn Out the Vote for McCain
President Bush stops by GOP headquarters Tuesday, out of the view of cameras, to urge them to work hard for John McCain’s election.

Who asked him to stay out of view of the camera?

Obama Affinity to Marxists Dates Back to College Days
Barack Obama shrugs off charges of socialism, but noted in his own memoir that he carefully chose Marxist professors as friends in college.

Can someone please get these people a dictionary and help them with the terms “marxism” and “socialism”?

Gee, wonder why they never worried about such things from 2000-2006 ….

GOP Candidates Warn Voters About Perils of One-Party Rule

On the defensive across the country and staring down an election that could see them reduced to an ineffective minority in the House and the Senate, congressional Republicans are offering a new argument to voters: the danger of single-party rule in the nation’s capital.
